Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
