The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
